Who are the leaders?

Our leadership team is entirely made up of volunteers who just enjoy Scouting! All adult leaders have training and a DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service) check, and there is always at least one adult who is first aid qualified present at an event/meeting.

Pete Butler (Executive Committee Chair) With a wealth of experience of Scouting Pete leads the Exec Committee. The Committee is made up of volunteers and parents and helps relieve some of the pressure for the Leaders to get on with delivering their program to the members. Please contact us if you can offer some assistance.

Mark Weedon (Group Scout Leader)

Mark has been a volunteer with youth organisations for 25 years. His focus is on developing 1st Granboroughs adventurous activities (camps, hikes, walks, expeditions, etc). As well as working directly with the Scout Troop Mark is responsible for the Group (Beavers, Cubs and Scouts); supporting all the leaders and ensuring the young members enjoy their Scouting experience. As well as Scouts Mark is also a First Responder for the Ambulance service in the surrounding villages.

Steve Parslow (Scout Leader)

Steve was involved in Scouts a few years ago and is excited to be back in the organisation with 1st Granborough. It was Steves idea to get 1st Granborough Scouts up and running after a 7-year absence in 2012.

Bob Bowerman (Scout Leader)

Bob has been Scouting for many years, helping in various troops with camps in the south of the county. He lives in Granborough and has now joined us full-time to bring his Scouting knowledge to the team. If anything needs (over) engineering then Bob is your man!

Simon Mills (Asst Scout Leader)

Whilst supporting his sons through their Scouting career Simon discovered a passion for a mushroom coloured shirt. This has resulted in him completing his training and combining the shirt with a nekka and woggle to complete the ensemble.

Elliot Wallis (Cub Leader – Akela)

Elliot has been part of 1st Granborough since 2015 when his own child joined.  He started as a regular adult helper and moved into the role as Asst section leader in Beavers in 2016.
Elliot then moved into the role of Cub Leader (or Akela) in 2017 where he is filling the pack with enthusiasm and exciting activities.

Brian Murray (Asst Cub Leader)

Brian has supported his son through his Scouting career and in the process discovered a passion for volunteering with young people, watching them grow and develop according to the Scouting principles.
